Here's another image from our recent trip to the South Island, this time one from Lake Matheson which is located just outside Fox on the west coast.
Lake Matheson is famous for its early morning lake reflections. Within about 30mins of me shooting this (and many more images), ripples started to form on the surface and totally destroyed the reflection. A magical place, but you do get a lot of tourists there with the same idea in mind!
The snow covered mountains you can see on the right of the frame form part of the Southern Alps - Horokoau/Mt Tasman (left) and Aoraki/Mt Cook (right). Mt Tasman is NZ's second highest mountain at 3497m, and Mt Cook is in first place at 3724m.
AUTUMN - LAKE WANAKA
Here's an image from a few weeks ago, shot on the banks of Lake Wanaka.
I took an early morning stroll down to the lake to photograph 'That Wanaka Tree', the same tree that 20 or so other photographers were there to photograph. I came away preferring this shot instead.
Cyclone Pam...
Cyclone Pam appears to me moving away from NZ and further East into the Pacific...Thankfully...
Here's a shot a grabbed this morning from the top of Te Mata Peak in Hawkes Bay. Was quite gusty and wet up there, so didn't linger!

FORWARD THINKING NZ...
One thing I love about NZ is the Kiwi ability to think ahead to the future...And embrace it! While the rest of the world seems to be in panic mode about how to regulate and/or license the rapidly advancing UAV/drone technology market, little old NZ is sensibly doing the right thing...
Here's the latest news on the use of UAV's, or drones as they are more commonly known, in particular using them beyond the line of sight for farming and forestry management, etc.
It also mentions that there have been over 160 requests via the Airshare website (www.airshare.co.nz) to use UAV's in controlled airspace, very proud to say that about 4 of those requests were from me for aerial photography here in Hawkes Bay.
