SNOWING ON TE MATA PEAK

Just been doing a short photography refresher for a local chap who was wanting to learn more about his camera in preparation for an overseas trip later this year.

I could see from Hastings that the weather was closing in on Te Mata Peak, so we took the opportunity to take a trip up the peak and get some snow shots and also cement some of the knowledge he had previously learnt.

Safe to say I have NEVER been so cold in Hawkes Bay.  The car thermometer was saying 1 degrees C, then with the windchill (of which there was plenty) it must have been into minus figures... Brrr....

Stay warm everyone!

THE SLEEPING GIANT

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a Kiwi lady living in the UK who is in the midst of setting up a new website.

She was looking for an image of Te Mata Peak which depicted 'The Sleeping Giant' in profile.  I had a couple of recce trips and did a Google Streetview search to try and find the best location to shoot from.

My brief was to to have a moody sky and the typical Hawkes Bay summer coloured landscape, without too much green.

I first of all gave my client this image, but ended up providing a panoramic image who's proportions are better suited a website banner.
