SCP provides stunning local photography for Hawke’s Bay company Clearwater Finance

SCP Client:

A call from design agency Coast & Co in early September 2018 had SCP shooting for Hawke’s Bay company Clearwater Finance before the month was out. The new company provides vehicle finance and was in need of images to help market its service offering to customers.

The Brief:

SCP was tasked with shooting images of the Isuzu D-Max, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Hyundai i20 in suitable locations around Hawke’s Bay, as well as photographing company director Mark Townshend. Simple and striking was the directive for the images that would bring to life Clearwater Finance’s new website and social media platforms.

SCP's Solution:

Over the course of a day in early Spring 2018, Simon drove each vehicle to a previously scoped location and photographed it. The D-Max was shot next to a construction site in Napier, offering some interesting textural elements. The beach at Awatoto provided the backdrop for the Santa Fe, and the i20 was photographed in the more urban locale of Tennyson Street in Napier. Simon captured company director Mark Townshend next to his branded vehicle in Ahuriri. Shoot time and post-production for this project totalled ten hours.

Tech Spec:

Simon’s tools of choice for this shoot were a Canon 5D Mk3 DSLR, a Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L lens and a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L Mk2 lens. He also used an off-camera flash to highlight some of the DMax’s external features. This was particularly successful in capturing the depth and detail of its black wheels and off-road tyres.

The Result:

The final outcome for this shoot was spot on – a series of vivid images that hero the vehicle and work well across the website and social platforms. The Sante Fe is currently featured on Clearwater Finance’s Facebook cover and images of all three cars have a revolving position on the homepage of the new site. Mark comes across as professional and approachable in the images, and there is no mistaking the local Hawke’s Bay backdrop across the series.
