THE GOLDEN GIRL

Here's an image which I shot late last year of the 'Spirit of Napier' statue which stands atop a tall pedestal in the Gilray Fountain towards the end of Marine Parade.

The statue was made by the late Frank Szirmay out of highly polished bronze and was later painted gold.  The statue was erected in 1971 to represent Napier's rise from the ashes of the 1931 earthquake.

This image forms part of a collection of iconic Hawkes Bay images which I'm producing, hence the ugly watermark across the middle of the image.  This and other iconic images will be available for purchase in due course.
