Event Photography for Jaguar Land Rover New Zealand, Hastings

Client Brief

Jaguar Land Rover is a luxury vehicle brand with dealerships across New Zealand. Its awards night recognises the dealerships and people behind the brand, in areas ranging from sales and customer service to innovation and sustainability.

In May 2024, the awards were held in the Assembly Ballroom at the Toitoi Arts & Events Centre in Hastings. The evening included speeches from key figures in the Jaguar Land Rover New Zealand network and the presentation of the awards.

Events Direct engaged me to photograph the night. The brief was to document the evening and the winners, with the images made available to the dealers afterwards.

Approach

Michelle, a contracted second photographer, and I covered the evening together, both shooting on Canon cameras. The Assembly Ballroom suited the occasion well, and we worked the room through the night to capture the speeches, the award presentations, and the moments of laughter and applause in between.

Guests included industry professionals and VIPs, among them Sir John Kirwan, Greg Murphy and Nerida Jantti (formerly Nerida Cortese). We photographed them as they mingled under the chandeliers, alongside the winners and the wider group of attendees.

Outcome

I delivered more than 500 final images from the evening, supplied in both high resolution and web resolution. They document the night and the winners, and Jaguar Land Rover dealers have access to the imagery.
