Client Brief

Simon Cartwright Photography, an NZIPP-accredited commercial photographer based in Havelock North, delivered architecture, aerial and event photography for Jennian Homes HB's new show home at the Iona development in Havelock North. Jennian Homes HB, part of the wider Jennian Group, held a launch event at the property in June 2026 ahead of final completion, and needed photography to promote the finished show home as a base to market other new builds. The show home serves as a showcase of the quality and style of Jennian Homes HB's work.

The brief covered both still imagery and video footage for the show home itself, and still coverage of the launch event held with friends, suppliers and invited guests.

Approach

I organised the whole shoot for this project, including bringing in Ben Firman from Engage Media for the aerial and video work. I captured the external and internal still imagery, and art directed the aerial photography, with Ben flying the drone and also capturing video footage for the promotional reel. Together we covered the property from the outside in, including the exterior architecture, interior spaces and aerial perspectives of the site and surrounding development.

I also photographed the launch event, an evening gathering at the property with only a louvre canopy over the deck still to be installed, where guests could walk through and experience the near-finished home firsthand. Event photography like this calls for a different pace to architectural work, staying alert to genuine moments while people are moving through the space.

Outcome

Fifty-five external, internal and aerial still images were delivered to the client for the show home, alongside seventy-five still images from the launch event, for a combined total of 130 final images. All stills were supplied as both high and web-resolution files, ready for print and digital use. Ben Firman's video footage was also delivered for the promotional reel.

The images are now being used across Jennian Homes HB's website and social media channels to market Jennian Homes HB.

Promotional Video

Ben Firman from Engage Media captured video footage of the show home, which has been edited into a promotional reel for Jennian Homes HB. The footage complements the still imagery, giving prospective clients a fuller sense of the finished build and the Iona development.
