Client Brief
Frank Engagement is a Hawke's Bay consultancy that connects decision-makers to the people they serve. They work across community engagement, strategic communications, and public consultation, helping organisations navigate decisions that matter to the people affected by them. In short, they make the complicated manageable.
With a growing team and a polished, purpose-driven brand, Frank Engagement needed professional portraits that reflected the quality and credibility of their work. Their team page is a key part of how potential clients and partners get to know the people behind the consultancy, and the photography needed to do that well.
Approach
Both shoots were straightforward in concept but required careful execution to get right. I set up my portable studio lighting against a plain white backdrop at the Frank Engagement office in Hastings, using the same lighting configuration and modifiers for every person across both sessions. Consistency was the priority. Whether photographing eight people in 2024 or three in 2025, the lighting, distance, and approach stayed the same so the whole team would read as a cohesive set.
During post-production, each portrait was clear-cut and composited onto a background in Frank Engagement's brand colour (#BCC5BD). That final step ties the portraits directly to their visual identity and gives the team page a polished, considered look that plain white alone wouldn't achieve.
Outcome
Eleven portraits were delivered across the two shoots, in both high and web-resolution formats. The images are now live on the Frank Engagement team page, where each staff member has their own profile portrait. The consistent lighting and branded background give the page a unified, professional appearance that reflects well on the organisation.
